What are blueprints?

Canvas blueprints are template courses that can push out information to their associated courses as and when needed. This academic year we have 2 different types being used: Default and Bespoke (school specific).

Can I import content from an archived Canvas course?

Yes, you can import or copy content from previous courses that have been concluded. You need to be a teacher in both courses.

What happens when I import or copy assignments?

When importing or copying over assignments they are placed in an assignment group called Imported Assignments. However, assignments can be moved into other assignment groups as necessary.

What happens to imported ReCap recordings?

ReCapcontent is not included in the import process. Please note, if you haveReCaprecordings added as a module item or embedded in a page, these will be linked to the previous years’ content that this year's students will not be able to access.

To reuseReCaprecordings from previous years you should create a copy of the existing recording(s),move the copiesto the folder forthis year, and recreate the links within modules.

  • To make copies of recordings follow thisguide.

How do communities work?

Communities will function as before. New communities will not be created as part of this process, but enrolments into communities will be managed through programme codes.

To request that a new community is created, complete thisNew Community Request Form.

How do parent/child modules work?

For existing parent-child modules (also known as cross-listed modules),a new module will be created for you and the child modules will be added. Content can then be added to this new parent module.

If you need to request a new parent-child module, that didn’t exist in the previous year, this can be requested using the existingparent child request form.

Please note the data feed is unable to pull through any information from MOFs directly to the Syllabus area of a Parent course. The required content should be added manually to the Parent course. This could be added to the Syllabus area and in this instance the content won’t be overridden by the daily data feed.
