Kirby is a brand of hoover that has been named after the American inventor Jim Kirby since the year 1935. Actually Jim Kirby invented the vacuum cleaner in 1906. However, in 1914 the Kirby Company was officially founded after which the further development, production and sale of the machine began. Until the year 1928 the machine did not work on electricity. The rear wheels provided a drive for the roller brush when one pushed against the device. The floor was swept by the rolling brush and the dirt swept up ended up in a bag that was hung on the machine. This is how the well known saying; He knocks, he sweeps and he sucks came about.
A Kirby is no ordinary hoover!

A Kirby in principle never needs to be replaced after purchase. Every Kirby can in fact be repaired "for life" because essential parts remain available for many decades. So retrofitting a Kirby as is sometimes suggested by some Kirby salesmen is not absolutely necessary. The Kirby Company has proven in the past decades that this is true.
