So i tried purchasing something from argos and when i tried to pay for the purchase an error came up and the order didnt go through, BUT the payment has been taken up twice from my debit Barclays card and put into Pending Transactions. It s been a week since this mix up and the money are still stuck in the Pending transactions. I can see them i cant touch them. Argos doesnt have an order registered to my account. Barclays cannot do anything about the transaction as it s in pending. It 1300 pounds we are talking about this is not normal. can someone help me please ?

The last time similar happened to me, and it was also with Barclays, it took seven working days to disappear. So, depending on the day the transaction was made, that could be 9-11 days. Mine was an Amazon transaction that I cancelled.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

It does happen im afraid. Most banks usually have time limits on how long a pending transactionis pending for, past that point its available to you again. You probably wont be too far away from that date (anything between 2-14 days i would imagine).
You can speak to argos to get them to tell the bank they arent going to collect the payment but by the time youve got through to someone who understand what youre on about and can actually handle it youre probably better of just waiting.
Speak to your bank and ask how long pending transactions stay pending before being made available again, should give you an idea of the longest it will take to get the money back.

This happened to me in Sainsburys yesterday 3 declined payments at till 4th time it went through. All 4 transactions including the declined ones are sitting in Pending Transaction in my bank account and the money for all four appears to have been deducted from available funds.
I contacted Sainsburys and they said this doesn't happen!!!, but I can see it has and it has affected the amount of available money in my account. I had to transfer money from my savings account to cover a short fall for a direct debit.
The three declined transaction amount to around £210
I rang my bank and they can see these pending transactions. I have raised this with them and they have put in a process to reverse the ones that were declined.
As Sainsbury and Argos are owned by the same company - it sounds like they have issues with their systems which they are not willing to own up to.

I understood this double debit with both Argos and Asda online shopping to be fixed now. Certainly I haven't experience it for some time.
What happened was that when we placed an order the money is reserved on our bank account. Then when we check out and pay the order was checked for the current price and the money was again reserved on our bank account so there were two reserved amounts which could be different from each other
The only similar occurrence I have is late debits when I use Paypal to pay for ebay purchases but they are not reserved or pending. I buy, the purchase is shown on ebay as paid but doesn't appear on my Paypal account transactions and the actual payment taken by Paypal whether by direct debit or credit card can take up to a week and then it shows on my Paypal transactions.
