Parents, rejoice! Back-to-school season is nearly upon us!
But here’s the thing… The first day of school is all about making that perfect first impression. I mean, it kinda sets the stage for the entire school year, right?
So in other words, it’s imperative that you nail down everything from the perfect outfit to the flawlessly coiffed hair on your head. But how ever will you style your hair this year?
Do you need a little hair inspo? Do you want to know what hairstyles are super trendy right now? Or which ones will be easy to recreate at home in a short amount of time?
That’s where I come in...
Here are 10 incredibly cute, incredibly easy hairstyles for school that anyone can do themselves at home…
💡TIP: Pin this to your Hairstyles board so you can always come back to it when you need some hair inspiration!
1. Clipped Up
Let’s kick off with one of the hottest looks on the scene right now – oversized pearl hair clips!
These are pretty much the best back-to-school hair accessories since they ooze trendiness, and they can easily be incorporated into any other hairstyle.
Mikaela Smith has a fabulous tutorial that shows you some fun ways to incorporate pearl hair barrettes into your hair!
2. Chunky Side Braid
I don’t know why but side braids make me feel fierce. They’re fun. They’re trendy. They get your hair out of your face.
But even better is the chunky pancaked braid. It looks fancy AF and it’s incredibly easy to do at home. You just need to know how to do a basic Dutch braid (which is totally achievable with a bit of practice).
Once the braid is in place, you loosen it up. It’s a sweet little hack to add tons of volume to even the thinnest hair.
Don’t believe me? Take it from Makenna Ashley.
3. The perfect Messy Bun
This is pretty much my go-to hairstyle. It’s super easy to do and perfect for the typical lazy girl (like me 🙋🏼♀️).
However, it can also look incredibly classy and trendy if done correctly.
Life with Lilly has also has a killer tutorial that shows you how to do the absolute perfect messy bun, even if you have short hair.
4. Wavy Perfection
Does wavy hair really ever go out of style?
Since bob haircuts and lobs are more in style than ever, I have to say that this one one of the best hairstyles for medium hair for school.
It looks so chic and finished, but is really easy to do.
Jess Hallock shows you how to get perfect waves in a matter of minutes.
5. Top Braids
I am in serious love with this look.
It’s a really easy hairstyle for school and it totally adds some oomph to your overall style.
Now…there are a few ways to create this look. If you want to go the “festival braid” route, it may take a little more time and practice… but I promise the payoff is worth it.
Whether you want tight, organized braids or a looser, more whimsical braid, just make sure to get 1-3 braids on the top of your head. Finish off the look with a high fountain pony or topknot.
Missy Sue, aka the queen of DIY braided hairstyles, has a super easy tutorial to follow.
6. Pull-Through Braid
I love the pull-through braid because it looks so glam and you don’t need braiding skills to complete this look. If you can make ponytails, I promise you can pull this look off.
Alex Gaboury has a step-by-step tutorial that demonstrates how to do one of the absolute best school hairdos around.
7. Upside-Down Braided Ponytail
This is such a fun easy hairstyle for school, and it can be incorporated into any other hairstyle. You just need to braid the nape area and have it lead into a ponytail, bun or whatever else you want.
Two Little Girls Hairstyles has a great tutorial, but you can also flip your head over and do it that way.
8. V-braided topknot
This is one of the most awesome hairstyles for school but it might take a little bit of practice. But I absolutely love this style and it’s not that hard once you get it down.
Missy Sue shows you how you can create two “V” braids on the top of your head. Lead them towards your crown, where they can connect to a high fountain ponytail or messy topknots.
9. Down With a Twist
Adding a couple of twists to your hair is the best way to add a little style to your hair.
To complete this look, you just have to wear your hair down (it can be wavy or straight). Twist a few strands from each side and pin them in the back.
This look from laineymariebeauty is slightly more advanced but still uses the same concept.
10. Dutch Braid Pigtail Buns
Last but not least, we arrive at the chunky Dutch braid pigtails that rocked the summer season this year.
To create this look, part your hair down the middle and Dutch braid each side down the middle of the section. Fasten the rest of the hair into a low bun at the nape of the neck. Don’t forget to loosen up the braids to give them more volume.
Wheelsnoheels – Gem Hubbard has a great tutorial for this style.
Final Thoughts
Even though your summer vacay is quickly coming to an end, you have the opportunity to make a new first impression with all your friends and classmates.
By following this guide and utilizing these tutorials, there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll find the absolute perfect hairstyle for school this year.
Knock ’em dead girl. Everyone’s gonna love your style!
